DECO Dictionary

DECOTEX Program

The DECOTEX is conceived to help linguists in manipulating Korean alphabet and syllables as well as words (Cf. Ivan Berlocher 2000): one can sort, delete or modify these units according to their phonemic or syllabic characteristics. For instance, all entries ending with 'ㄱ‘ as the final consonant can be selected by means of phoneme/syllable selecting boxes; or all entries starting with 'ㅎ’ or 'ㅎ + ㅏ‘ can be deleted through the same type of operations.

New results obtained by these operations can be saved and transported into other programs such as MS-Excel program. This program is quite helpful when one needs to classify new entries of nouns according to the final consonant types (i.e. no consonant-ending words, 'ㄹ‘-ending words, and other consonant-ending words) in order that one can assign the appropriate sets of inflectional suffixes (or noun-postpositions, JOSA) to each morphological class of nouns.
