Visa & Immigration

Congratulations on your admission to Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is pleased to welcome all international Students. On this page, we are providing you with useful visa information and a guide to immigration policies.


Prospective Students & Returning Students (Degree Programs) All international students residing in foreign countries and have been accepted to study at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will need to apply for a student visa(D-2) at the closest embassy or consulate of the Republic of Korea

To apply for a student visa (D-2), all international students will need the following items
1) Completed visa application form (available at http://www.hikorea.go.kr )
2) Valid passport
3) Certificate of admission (acceptance letter from HUFS)
4) Certificate of most recent scholastic achievement
5) Certificate of bank balance
6) Two passport-size photographs (3.5cm x 4.5cm)
7) Visa Processing Fee (Single Entry : 30 USD, Multiple Entry : 50 USD)

Note 1: If all international students already received a C-3 visa (short-term permission for general purpose) instead of a D-2 visa, students must change their visa status within 30 days after arrival

Note 2: There are two types of visas; one is single entry, the other is multiple entry. If international students want to travel abroad during their exchange program at HUFS, we recommend a multiple entry type of D-2 visa.



Prospective Students (The Korean language course) All students who wish to take the Korean language course must apply for a student visa or a training visa (Visa Status : C-3, D-4) at the closest embassy or consulate of the Republic of Korea.

Note 1: If the visa expires during the education period, it is possible to extend the visa in Korea

Note 2: All students who come with a tourist visa cannot extend or change the visa status in Korea
